The 2026 MLB Hall of Fame ballot results are in! Not only do we have two new inductees, one of which was at the center of a cheating scandal not even 10 years ago, but we also lost 12 players for next year’s ballot, 11 of which were in their first year of eligibility. These facts raise a couple of BIG questions about the voting process moving forward. Let me explain… (19 mins)
Jose Altuve and Carlos Correa have been fixtures for their respective countries in the World Baseball Classic over the last two tournaments. Unfortunately, they look like they will not be able to continue that trend because of a little-known part of the process. Let’s get into it… (10 mins)
STAT OF THE WEEK - Fielding Run Value
Fielding Run Value is Statcast’s metric for capturing a player’s measurable defensive performance by converting all of Statcast’s individual defensive metrics from different scales onto the same run-based scale, which can then be read as a player being worth X runs above or Y runs below average. (via Statcast)
Currently, the conversions for those metrics are as follows:
Outs Above Average (range): 1 out = .9 run (OF) // 1 out = .75 run (IF)
Fielder Throwing Runs: 1 run = 1 run
Catcher Blocking: 1 block saved= .25 run (available 2018 – present).
Catcher Framing: 1 strike saved = .125 run
Catcher Throwing: 1 SB prevented = .65 run
Double Plays: 1 DP added = .4 run
